Backstory

Elijah was born in Rustboro to the daughter of the owner of the Devon Corporation, Mr. Stone. As the company failed as a result of espionage and other actions during the War, Eli's father left his young mother alone to care for baby Eli. His mother, Samantha, moved back in with her father and Eli was raised by both her and his grandfather. Mr. Stone was bitter over the decline and loss of his company, and more so over the death of his once-champion son, Steven Stone. He took out a lot of this resentment on his young grandson in various ways. Eli was not allowed to call him grandfather or grandpa, only Mr. Stone. He constantly told young Eli about how he would never live up to his uncle, how Steven should have lived in someone else's place. As a young lad growing up in Rustboro, Elijah often played at the beaches to the north and south of the city where he would encounter and befriend the water pokemon living there. Mr. Stone would make him abandon these pokemon in favor of the much "stronger and superior" steel pokemon. In his mind, all other pokemon were inferior. "If steel pokemon were good enough for my son, they're more than what you deserve." One day out at sea, Elijah encountered and rescued a goldeen that had been poisoned by a tentacruel. He took it to a pokemon center and raised it in secret. He would also capture a mantyke this way. When he was old enough to join the Trainer Academy in the city, Mr. Stone took him on a trip to Dewford to visit the caves on the island. Elijah managed to capture a mawile. Thinking the steel type would please his grandfather, he ran to show the old man what he had found. Mr. Stone allowed him to keep it, but sent him back to the caves, not satisfied until Eli returned with an aron.

Elijah succeeded at the Trainer Academy. It was his first opportunity to live outside of his grandfather's thumb and with his goldeen and other pokemon by his side, he found he was a fairly capable battler. His test and practical scores, as well as his top third class ranking, selected him for recruitment into Valiant Officer school. He readily accepted. It was something he could do, again out of the house, and it was something Mr. Stone approved of.

Once in Valiant, he joined the Steel division. Under Kelthanas he moved up from a grunt level private to overseeing a a small security detail at the base in Slateport. A few weeks before his twentieth birthday, he met a young woman Kelly. They began dating and all of that jazz. They were eventually married and had a son named Jeremy. However, they grew apart and eventually divorced. Jeremy stayed with Kelly. Elijah was heartbroken at the loss of his son, whom he loved dearly. He requested a transfer out in order to escape the situation. When Captain Rock took over the division he was high enough in the rank structure to roam freely and work directly under the typelord. He was at Mt Chimney and fought against the Legend Cardinal Lucerne but was defeated by moltres left behind, unconscious as Rock pursued her and eventually died. After the Captain's death and Elijah's subsequent actions at Fortree, he was promoted to interim typelord and continues to hold the position.

He established a group of officers underneath him to solidify his command structure. They are known as the Steel Unit.

Pogeys

Hariyama - Samuel is laid back and jolly like other stereotypical fat men before him. He was captured in one of Eli's later trips to the Dewford caves.
Mantine - Jacob is passive but does not like his antennae to be touched. Along with Esau, he was the first pokemon Elijah caught while on Valiant.
Mantine's Remoraid - Esau lives off of Jacob and even shares his Poké Ball. They [s]are[/s] were closer than brothers. Was killed by moltres.
Mawile - Moroni is one of Eli's favorite Pokémon. She is curious and surprisingly fierce. Captured in Eli's first trip to Dewford with Mr. Stone.
Lucario - Hafaza is silent and prefers to defend.
Empoleon - Mikaaiyl is violent and intensely loyal. Is one of Elijah's closest pokemon.
Magnezone - Israfel has no personality.
Magnezone's Magnemite - Eyns and Tsvey are controlled by Israfel and are used to either strengthen its magnetism or defend it.
Aggron - Bariel is intensely proud. Eli only caught him to satisfy his late grandfather. They resent each other.
Breloom - Michael is a coward.
Seaking - Gabriel is simple. He was Eli's first Pokémon and is closest to him.
Corsola - Bath is simple much like Gabriel and enjoys playing.
