Shoddy Battle is a popular pokemon battle simulator,
a program that allows you to play pokemon matches with other people over the internet.
Shoddy Battle implements most of the Advance (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) and Jewel (Diamond/Pearl) metagames at present.
We at PD use Shoddy Battle for various RP battle events or just for fun.

Instructions
After the program finishes downloading, you will be presented with a warning dialogue.
This dialogue is simply asking for permission to run the program as a normal application program,
as opposed to a typical Java applet running in a sandbox.
It it not asking for anything above the privileges of your user account. In particular,
it is not asking to run as an administrator.
(Shoddy Battle does not require that you are an administrator.)
If you are fine with running the program, choose Run.
Alternatively, if the download link does not work, and you are using Windows,
choose Run from the Start menu and enter the following before clicking OK:
javaws http://shoddybattle.com/client/shoddybattle.php
If you are not using Windows, enter the same at a command terminal and then press enter.
Connecting
After you've launched the program, press Advanced and enter this information:
Host:
83.254.12.191
Port:
1234
For some users the screen freezes and then gives the message, "Error: Connection timed out: connect" when connecting this way. If that comes up, go to the welcome window, find the PD server from the list (usually somewhere near the bottom) and click connect.
