Team Legend - The Crusaders Division

"A Templar Knight is truly a fearless knight, and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armor of faith, just as his body is protected by the armor of steel. He is thus doubly-armed, and need fear neither demons nor men."

Origin

The Crusaders were founded in 10PR, during the peak of the Great War, in order to seek out and eliminate pockets of resistance so that Team Legend could maintain command over areas they had gained control of. While the Typelords and their own personal divisions secured territory in their own ways, the Crusaders Division were fearsome in this task, and were unique in the fact that they were not commanded by a particular typelord, rather commanded by all five through Council, perhaps ensuring that no one Cardinal held the Crusaders' power completely.

The Sections

The Crusaders Division consisted of three sections - each specializing in a different part of their duties.

Knights: were the main section, the foot soldiers of the division. They originally had about fifty members by the end of the war, and in their declining years, only eight remained. Among their main duties included walking through the populace in order to see how a city was faring. They also worked underground to ensure the economy in an area both continued fluidly and that most of the money still flowed in Team Legend's direction - the former duty to ensure little panic and to prevent rebellion. In combat, as foot soldiers, the Knights normally kept one of each of the Legend types on hand, with their sixth pokemon being one of their own choosing. Thus they were able to use their versatile teams to adapt to multiple situations.

Hunters: specialized in the pursuit/capture of pokemon and the breeding of the Legend-types. This specialty allowed the Crusaders to use selective breeding on a variety of their respective types, ensuring the family lines remained strong. Hunters were one of the lesser-known sections of the Crusaders, yet their duty was what ensured the strength of the Crusaders' pokemon. The main base of the Breeder section was Floaroma Town, and upon the removal of all Crusaders' bases outside of Blackthorn, only three chose to follow to the last base.

Erasers: were involved in special-ops, and when a target would refuse in cooperation, an Eraser was sent. They were elite soldiers, trained under extreme circumstances for survival. It was said that training a pokemon under the Erasers would also limit its fighting years, due to the intense strain both the pokemon and person went through, although no known erasers can prove or disprove the fact. Near the Crusaders' beginning, there were rumored to be ten Erasers. Near the decline, it was spoken of only two living within the division, the rest either killed or retired without replacement.

Last Years and Disbanding

By 3AR, most of the larger pockets of resistance had been quelled, and with the Great War's end, their purpose became less needed. About half their number was reassigned to the title of Bishops. By 4AR, there remained about twenty Crusaders, this number halved again when in 5AR, ten of their number opted to join the Legend Troopers as opposed to remaining in the dying division of Crusaders. It was also in 5AR, that all the Cruaders' bases, save for the one in Blackthorn, was revoked, and the remaining Crusaders were stationed there, perhaps out of hope that they would be used to conquer territory in Johto.

With recruitment for that year, the number was brought up to 13 - and it remained so until AR9, when one member (Eluamous) took a leave of absence from Legend, bringing their number to 12. About six months later, the Crusaders Division was disbanded due to a lack of necessity, as there remained no more pockets of resistance in Legend's claimed territories.
